My Story.
Hey there. I'm Jadon Henry Tanguma. I'm 18 years old. I was born and raised in Colorado. I've lived in the same house my whole life, in the best city in the world called Arvada. I've been so blessed to have had such an awesome family. I have a brother who is 18 years older than me, and yes we are from the same parents. My parents raised both of us so well, and I wouldn't trade them for anything in this world. Being that my big brother is so much older than me, I basically grew up as an only child. My brother has stayed pretty local though, so I got to be around him growing up and he's always been around. He got married 11 years ago, and now has 3 kids. Josiah, my only nephew, is the oldest at ten years old. He's my little buddy. Lucia is the middle child at 8 years old, shes my princess. The latest addition to our family is Hazel, shes only one, but we all know I'm her favorite. There's no people that I love more than my close family, they have taught me what true love looks like, even if it is ugly sometimes.
I went to the same school from kindergarten through eighth grade. It was a charter school, so it was small. I only had about 60 kids total in my class each year. I went to school with basically the same kids every year, some came and left. I'm actually super thankful for that school because I made some awesome life long friends that I know I will always be in touch with. I had my awesome little group of friends in middle school, and we pretty much ran the school. It was a bit sad when we all split off to go to different high schools, but it just made room for new friends and new adventures. I went from a small charter school, to a huge public school, it was a huge transition for me but it's also when my life began to gain direction.
Growing up, I went to church every Sunday and Wednesday with my parents. We went to the same small church every Sunday, so we were definitely a part of the community. I had lots of friend there too, I got to grow up with a few of them, but a lot were never consistent. I would hear all the Bible stories and pray and make crafts and I would hear the grown-ups talk about their churchy stuff. I never really wondered how it could all apply to my life or what it mean to be a believer. My freshman year of high school, I had gotten into the swing of things at public school and I had my new group of friends. Through a series of events I ended up at an event on a Monday night called Young Life. (Young life is a outreach ministry, where college aged students build friendships with high school kids in order to be a mentor in their life and hopefully lead them to Christ.) At this crazy event I got to play some awesome games, watch some hilarious skits, and I heard the gospel told like I had never heard it before.
My first leader came out of Young Life. He was the first person ever to be vulnerable to me and openly share his own life with me. He would talk to me about Jesus and how Jesus was doing things in his life. He would tell me about his own struggles and his own fears. It was the first time I had ever seen what a relationship looked like with Jesus. I got saved that year and I'm still involved with Young Life to this day, leading other kids to Christ.
I've been out of high school for a year now and I got home about a month ago from a six month long mission trip to South-East Asia. Right now life for me is working as a waiter and befriending high school kids in hope of leading them to Christ. I'm hoping to start up college in the fall, taking a basic art degree, prayers there would be great. I hope that I can share my art, my stories, and my love for Jesus with everyone through this simple website.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story.
I really do appreciate it. Much love and blessings.
